Wading through the sticky, muddy sand was tricky (nearly lost a shoe at one point) but worth the effort. I was very pleased with the result as it's a different perspective from the other photos I've seen of the pier online. The exposure was a full 25 seconds which allowed me to turn the choppy waves into sort of a mist. One evening I waited for dusk and captured this bracketed exposure. The mist rolling in from the sea, and the incredibly calm waters gave me quite an eerie feeling as I stood on the beach. No filters needed and no long exposure to smooth out the water - nature had taken care of it for me. It was a cold morning so I wrapped up warm and walked down from the promenade onto the beach. I then saw this incredible boat with a gull perched on its bow. He just sat there and looked at me as I set up my camera, and then I got the shot.
